Eventually I have (almost) settled down in Boston. I am now living in a studio on Kelton street, around 3 miles from MIT campus. It is close to a T station (green line), thus going to MIT should not be so painful.

This is my first time being in Boston. I will spend some time exploring the city

I am at SIGGRAPH 2010 in LA now. The weather here is fantastic! I do not have any paper to present this year, so I can enjoy watching paper presentations and other interesting stuff

I am finally back in the States. Now I have a pretty long to-do list:

1. clean my room (and get ready for moving)
2. do some regular maintenance for my car
3. pick up a package from the post office
4. return cable TV equipments
5. purchase a new DSLR

Have to finish the above within two days before heading to LA for attending SIGGRAPH T_T

I have eventually finished the summer internship at Microsoft Research Asia and will be back in the States within a week. Now start (continue?) worrying about housing in Boston…

好久没有更新博客了。最近这一个半月里还是发生了不少事情的。

首先是 2009 Spring 学期结束了。这个学期我只选了2门课，本以为相比选了2门 CS 课 + 2门英语课的 2008 Fall 要轻松点，结果发现其实不然。2门 6000 level 的课到了都有 final project （连 complexity theory class 都有一个 read & present paper 的 project），再加上参与了一个 SIGGRAPH Asia project，学期末简直是忙昏了。好在那个研究项目并不是我主导，还可以稍微偷懒一下 -_-b 总得来说上个学期还算是很平稳吧，大部分事情都按部就班地做掉了，没什么意外但也没什么惊喜。

学期结束后，我赶在签证还没过期之前回国了一趟——结果恰逢猪流感肆虐世界……尽管美国这边不太紧张，但国内还是严阵以待的。整个回国过程还算顺利，和我同飞机上的人似乎都健康，没有人被隔离。全副武装的检疫人员登上飞机的时候，乘客 + 机组人员围观拍照，很是有趣。在国内的3周我主要时间都宅在家里：看了几天 WCG 2009 中国赛区的比赛，顺便还补完了「Ｇ線上の魔王」。回美国的之前我回交大会了会老同学们。大部分读研的同学都在找工作了，其中一些人已经拿到了口头的 offer。我估计会是我们班参加工作最晚的一批人了 -_-b

上周回到美国之后，我买了一辆 2002 年的 Toyota Camry Solara。这车已经开了 90000 多 mi，不过保养得还算不错。终于要开始有车的生活了！

其实新闻本身并没有什么特别，但是标题实在是有些雷人（见下图）：

58岁的三轮车（好老的车……）被轿车谋杀了。可怜的三轮车　orz

08-09 年 SIGGRAPH season 结束了。由于 PhD 第一年课程压力比较大，我没有开自己的项目，只是 co-author 了一个项目。因此，工作量就相对小了一些——尽管如此，deadline 之前的那个晚上还是通宵了，sigh 总的来说，最后的结果还算令人满意，不过最后是否能中还是只能看 RP……

SIGGRAPH season 结束的同时，2009 春季学期开始了。于是，有一轮买课本潮到来了。这边的 textbook 价格真是可怕，新书大部分每本价格都在 $100 以上——抢钱啊！就算是 used book 也不便宜，一般 condition 好点的每本也要 $50 以上。部分书发行了 international version，会更便宜一些，不过很多作者和奸商出版社勾结，把 international version 的内容做得和 us version 不一样，以保证不能替代价格高昂的原版…… 唉，买书难啊 orz

上周五考完 AI 之后，在 Cornell 的第一个学期正式宣告结束。这个学期，我上了四门课（两门CS + 两门英语）外加 TA 一门我不怎么熟悉的 db 课 orz，总得来说还是比较忙碌的。由于课太多，搞研究的时间就比较有限了——不过我还是加入了一个 research project，要在寒假里忙活了……

尽管如此，我还是挤出时间追了 17 部新番外加把《银魂》赶上了进度。另外我也准备了2T空间开始着手建设自己的动漫资源库

总得来说，这是挺充实的一个学期啊～～

The website of Shanghai Jiao Tong University has been updated. And one of the photos on the homepage is about my ACM-ICPC team… orz The photo was captured at ACM-ICPC World Finals 2005. Actually in the photo, we were writing a program that just print out the sample output (and it certainly got an ‘Wrong Answer’) in the last 10 minutes of the contest
